With proposed and approved developments at the major intersection of Yonge Street and Carrville Road/ 16th Avenue, it is prudent to plan effectively while the Town of Richmond Hill is Building a New Kind of Urban as articulated in its Official Plan, adopted in 2010, and under the pressure of the Provincial directions on intensification.  The Draft Yonge/ 16th Key Development Area (KDA) Secondary Plan provides area-specific policies to guide future development and public investment in the Yonge/ 16th KDA.

Three principles are used to guide development within the Yonge/ 16th KDA:

  1. Improve Connectivity
  2. Accommodate Transition
  3. Create Local Identity
